Happy Mother's Day 1996

To A Very Special Woman In My Life...

For My Mother, Barbara Ann Hill Raible:

I remember...

I remember the breakfasts you made over the hot wood stove.
I remember you walking Kalin and I to the busstop everyday during the cold Montana winters.
I remember the inspiration you gave me to do well in school.
I remember the encouragement you gave me to try new things.
I remember the names of the trees you taught me as a child.
I remember the camping trip with Rachel and chewing Copenhagen.
I remember the first time I saw you cry and the pain I felt.
I remember crying as a boy everytime you would leave the homestead.
I remember feeling your love everyday.
I remember your smile and I am flooded with happiness.
I remember how you worry about my well-being and safety.
I remember the huckleberry pancakes and muffins.
I remember the Chronicles of Narnia.
I remember the saunas as a boy and the Johnson & Johnson you used on my hair.
I remember when you cut your leg with the chainsaw and how scared I was.
I remember the summers you would leave, and the mischief I got in.
I remember you helping me write my story for "Where We Live."
I remember your love of the outdoors and camping.
I remember being the luckiest son in the entire world.
I remember you asking me, every day when I saw you, "How was school today?"
I remember everything about you and I only wish I could remember more.
I remember you as the most caring person I have ever met.
I remember you as the most inspirational person I've ever met.
I remember you as a role model, and as a teacher.
I remember you being happy every single day.
I remember the love you gave father, Kalin, and I.
I remember how it was you that held the family together during rocky times.
I remember your motivation to educate yourself and graduate from college.
I remember your willpower to get yourself in shape.
I remember the conversations and love we shared going to Denver for the first time.

But most of all...

I remember you as a mother.
Thank you for creating who I am and for being who you are.

I love you Mommy
